Basic H is a pretty amazing concentrate. It’s non-toxic, all-natural, and doubly concentrated. By using it to mix your cleaners it costs less than $.01 center to make a 16 oz. bottle of window cleaner, only $.03 to make a 16 oz. bottle of all-purpose cleaner, and only $.17 to make a 16 oz. bottle of degreaser. WOW! Talk about saving money on cleaning products! Normally each of those products would cost me $3.00+. Okay so it’s good for the environment and cost effective but does it work?
The first bottle I tested was the window cleaner along with the microfiber window cloth. If you have been following me from the beginning you know how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sprayway’s Glass Cleaner so I was curious to see if the Basic H glass cleaner would compare. And boy oh boy, I was pleasantly surprised!!! First I started with the windows in my kitchen because they always have water spots on them from the sink, then I went to the sliding door to clean off Malea’s sticky fingerprints, then the mirrors, the TV, and then anything else I could think of. I was looking for streaks {that’s a HUGE pet peeve of mine with glass cleaners}, there were NONE. I kept trying to find a sticky fingerprint or smudge it couldn’t tackle, there were NONE. Ahhh, I’m in love. I think I cleaned every glass surface in my entire house that afternoon. The best part is now I can clean as many glass surfaces, mirrors, etc. as often as I want because it’s only costing me $0.01 per bottle instead of $3.00+!!! And I don’t have to use tons of paper towels! I love that!
The next bottle I tested was the degreaser. I was thinking, “there’s no way this will be able to cut through grease, it’s mostly just water!” So I started in the toughest, most greasiest spot in the house, the stove top and the microwave right above it. I sprayed them down and then wiped it with the microfiber cleaning cloth and the grease came right off. No scrubbing was necessary, it wiped clean very easily. Again trying to find something it couldn’t tackle I walked around my house spraying it on things like duct tape residue on the washing machine {from when we moved}–it came right off, greasy spots on the walls from Malea’s dirty little hands–wiped clean easily, dirty doors–clean in seconds. Then I started thinking, “Dang! This stuff is good!” I have yet to find something it can’t degrease, so again I was wrong, and pleasantly surprised!
The last bottle I tried was the all-purpose cleaner. I wasn’t really sure what to use it for because I had already cleaned almost everything in my house with the other two bottles so I decided to start with the basics: the sinks and faucets. By now my skepticism was long gone so I was not at all surprised when the all-purpose cleaner made my sinks and faucets nice and shiny. My only complaint though is that I did not find it to be good on tough stains. I had a small stain on my bathroom sink from coloring my hair and it was not able to remove it. However a dab of bleach had it gone it seconds. This minor setback didn’t break my heart though so I kept looking for things to clean with it. Next I got a little creative and used it for dusting my dressers and the entertainment center, I found it to be great for dusting. Then I used it to mop my wood floors! I think using it for moping was my favorite use for it because it’s hard to find a good product that doesn’t leave any sort of residue on the floor. The all-purpose cleaner left my floors smelling good and sparkling like new.
