I am so excited to share this next project with you! A couple years ago our church, The Stirring, bought a building. It has been a l-o-n-g process getting into the building. It has taken a lot of prayer, a lot of miracles, a lot of time, a lot of energy and a lot of sacrifice to get us to where we are at today. It has been a team of individuals that have put in all the hard work but one man in particular has been the front runner of this project.

A couple Sundays before our move in date I asked him if he had made a paper chain to count down until the big day. He said he needed to make something more like an Advent calendar, and I thought, “I can totally do that.” I was so excited to put together an Advent Calendar for him and his wife because they have given and sacrificed so much the last couple of years to make this project happen.
Here’s what I did:
I went to Micheal’s and bought a bunch of boxes in different sizes and colors. I also bought number stickers and a wood square to glue the boxes onto. Then I laid it out to get an idea of what it would look like.
Next I taped off two small rectangular areas so that I could spray chalkboard paint on them. This makes it so that it can be reused for future countdowns.
Definitely not perfect but close enough.
Then I used Zots and some glue to place all the boxes where I wanted them.
Next I added some letter stickers to define what each chalk area was for. Then I wrote the number of “days” to count down and the event that the countdown is being used for, in this case we are counting down “until” the “1st Sunday in our new building!”
The Advent calendar even comes with it’s own chalk. I tied a piece of twine around the chalk and then attached it to the board with a furniture nail head.
Then I hung a bracket on the back in case they wanted to hang it on the wall.
Here’s what all the boxes look like inside. There are lots of fun goodies in there!
Here is the finished product! I had so much fun making this {and a hard time giving it up}. I’m totally going to make one of these to use for my home. We can countdown to Christmas, birthdays, etc.
